They thawed him out to save humanity. Now they want him buried. In the year 2220, cryogenically preserved scientist Dr. Peter Royce and his wife, Monica, are awakened to save a dying world. They emerge into a chilling dystopia where a devastating plague known as mitocancer threatens to extinguish humanity, and a ruthless regime dictates human worth based solely on usefulness to society. The cure is locked away in Peter’s past—a past he can barely remember. As he and Monica navigate the treacherous corridors of a reimagined Washington, D.C., and the icy isolation of Marmot Island, they are thrown into a high-stakes game of political intrigue and a desperate battle for survival. Every secret they unravel puts them in greater danger, forcing them to question the very meaning of being human.Drawing tonal echoes from hits like Silo and Annihilation, Defrosted is a razor-sharp fusion of frontier medicine and political subterfuge. It probes the fine line between innovation and ethics, offering an ominous warning and a beacon of hope in a world where freedom is an ancient concept.
