IT'S THE ROARING TWENTIES OF 1925, and Roxie Raines is recovering from the fire that nearly killed her and ruined her voice. She and her detective boyfriend, Jake Kane, are in love, but their timing is always a little off. Jake has taken on a dangerous murder case and is almost killed. On their first date, they attend a raucous party at Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald’s home, and tragedy ensues.When Roxie is threatened by Nash Corbin, a man who knew her in 2019, she asks Jake’s partner, Charlie, for help. Things get serious when Charlie is shot in a gun battle while saving Jake’s life. As events begin to unravel around her, Roxie considers returning to the future, and with her friend, Harriet’s, blessing, she does.The New York City Roxie stumbles into is not the New York she left behind.
